McKinley is sponsoring a traditional Thanksgiving meal for students and community members who will be in town for the holiday. The gathering is at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 26, in the foundation living room.
The McKinley Church and Foundation continues to help to co-sponsor a food pantry at the Garden Hills Elementary School in Champaign, working in partnership with the Unit Four School District and the Eastern Illinois Food Bank. Last month, the pantry served 161 adults, 211 children in two sessions (some repeats), making a total of 372 people receiving much needed assistance. The food pantry is open the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month and will continue through the school year. It is planned to have student involvement as the school year continues. $2000 has been collected by the church and $1,200 pledged by the foundation to help fund the pantry
