The Wert Scholars Fund is named for the late Charles A. Wert, a member and elder of the McKinley Presbyterian Church, and a professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois.
The Wert Scholars Fund benefits a student studying for the Christian ministry, and may also be used for those that are studying for lay minister positions. Precedence is given to students who are members or regular attendees of McKinley Presbyterian Church in Champaign, or have some association with the church, or who have a record of participation in McKinley Foundation student ministry activities.
If no suitable candidate is found in from McKinley, precedence is given to students that are members or are associated with a Presbyterian church in the greater Champaign-Urbana community.
